The ’60s in the Seventies

This exhibition at Ubu Gallery—then located on East 78th street—presented the artists of the flourishing art scene in the 1960s and the legendary galleries in New York’s East Seventies that exhibited their work. The 1960s was a decade of fascinating diversity: performance and conceptual art, minimal and pop art all interacted and fed upon one another. Three decades later, the East Seventies were once again gloriously resurgent as a nexus for significant galleries.
